BarnDog

What is BarnDog?

A shared workspace for your company's AI coding environment, delivered into the agents your developers already use.

BarnDog lets a company configure its AI coding environment once and ship it to every native coding harness: Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor today, with more to come.

Developers keep working in the tools they prefer. BarnDog sits above them as the place where the team's shared setup is built, reviewed, versioned, and distributed.

What BarnDog does

BarnDog does two things.

  1. Developer environment management. Each developer chooses the setup they want from the organization, their teams, and the repositories they work in. They can add individual assets on top. One command, barndog sync, writes that setup into every selected harness in the harness's own format.
  2. Collaborative asset development. Developers create and improve shared assets together. Skills and Hooks get published versions, Suggested Changes, line-by-line review, and protected merges, much like code in a repository.

What gets managed

BarnDog calls the things it manages assets. There are three kinds:

AssetWhat it is
SkillA package with a required SKILL.md plus any supporting files. Agents load it when it's relevant.
MCP configurationA connection definition for an MCP server. It names the secrets it needs but never stores their values.
HookA command that runs when a lifecycle event happens, such as after a file edit.

Where you work

  • The web workspace is where organizations, teams, repositories, and members are managed. It's also where you browse assets, edit in the browser, and review Suggested Changes.
  • The barndog CLI runs on each developer's machine. It signs in, chooses harnesses, installs and syncs assets, and pulls, edits, and pushes Skills.

BarnDog is not another coding agent, IDE, or chat interface. It configures the agents you already have.
